Shaping a meaningful identity.
YMCA OF SAN FRANCISCO design & REBRAND
Responsible for providing design support to 14 branches and over 120 program sites, I regularly collaborated with internal teams for community initiatives, as well as executive board members and political leaders to deliver polished, impactful marketing materials for exclusive fundraising events.
In 2011, I played a key role in the organization’s rebrand effort led by Siegel + Gale as a Brand Ambassador, where I introduced the new brand voice to internal teams, ensured standards were upheld through design efforts, and consulted staff on best practices for application. I also collaborated with branch executives and contractors on facility renovations to meet brand audit requirements. This leadership exposure strengthened my skills to successfully partner with cross-functional teams and own high-impact initiatives from start to finish.
This role provided countless avenues to explore personal and professional development through learning, coaching, and leading.
Mentoring and mastering the brand.
The YMCA, well known for providing employees with professional development training, provided me with the opportunity to develop trainings to educate marketing teams on brand basics and build design skills. Recognizing that most of the association’s marketing teams lacked design software and expertise in design, I partnered with our IT department to secure Adobe Creative Cloud account and led design trainings to anyone looking to build creative skills or better understand the brand in action. After course completion, individuals possessed skills to design branded assets in Adobe, with the added bonus of a peer network for ongoing design support.
